A Charleton House Mystery, Book Four
Five of five stars
I have loved the Charleton House series from the very first one, and this newest entry is no different! Well, it is – Joe is away, Mark is out of commission, and Joyce is drafted to be Sophie’s assistant – oh dear!
Sophie – my favourite coffeeholic – while at first determined to steer clear, finds that’s simply not possible and is soon up to her espresso maker in clues and red herrings. Is Joyce up to the task of assistant? As these two navigate the treachery, mind the curves, and get to the bottom of yet another perplexing murder; it’s obvious they’re both having a great deal of fun!
Adams is adept at weaving mystery, mayhem, and investigation with humour, A Deadly Ride is filled with all of those things. I raced through to the end, and as usual, Miss Sophie beat me to the correct solution. But that’s what makes these all a very good read! Though Charleton House Mysteries is a fabulous fun series, any of the books CAN be read as a standalone with gaps in the narrative. However, I can promise you, you won’t want to miss any of Sophie’s adventures!
